Last Week of ALCHEMY in Detroit, MI

I have a piece installed at the Inner State Gallery in Detroit, MI, as part of a group show, ALCHEMY-- curated by Oakland-based artist Monica Canilao and featuring over 40 artists from all over the world.

From the Inner State Gallery website:

"Inner State Gallery is proud to announce Alchemy an expansive group exhibition curated by prolific multi-media artist Monica Canilao. The immersive site specific installation will feature a gallery wide takeover opening to the public on Friday, July 10th in Detroit’s Historic Eastern Market. Using the medieval forerunner of chemistry for inspiration, Canilao asked the group of over 40 artists to create both two and three dimensional works that will transform the gallery into a contemporary reflection of this well worn path through the eyes of the contributing artists."

More information about the show can be found on the gallery's website, and all work from the show can be seen (and purchased!) on 1xrun.com.  The last days for viewing the show in the gallery will be Thursday, July 30th - Saturday, August 1st, from 12-5pm each day.

/// BECOMING \\\ >> final week of events

Wednesday, March 25th  ::  gallery talk 6:30pm

Join the artists for a candid discussion of the imagery and ideas featured in the show.  Questions highly encouraged!

Thursday, March 26th  ::  extended evening hours & print sale 6-9pm

Eric has been AS220's Artist-in-Residence for March, so he's been spending his recent days in the printshop reproducing a select few of his incredibly detailed originals-- some multi-color, some hand-colored, all with the exact, painstaking care of the originals.  His work is truly the type to fall into for long meditative moments, so if you're interested in procuring any of his work (or even just wanna chat him up in general), this is the night to come by.

Friday, March 27th  ::  NCECA Reception 5-7pm

This one's especially for the clay nerds!  I'll be posted up in the gallery and talkin tech with other ceramically-minded folks from near and far.

All this is in addition to regularly scheduled gallery hours for the week:

Tues-Fri 1-6pm  &  Sat 12-5pm

hope to see you there!

BECOMING opens March 7th at AS220 Project Space

new work by Eric Loundy & Meredith Younger

Opening Reception :: Saturday, March 7th 5-7pm
Closing Reception & Print Sale :: Thursday, March 26th 6-9pm

Illustrative artist Loundy (Oakland, CA) and ceramic sculptor Younger (Providence, RI) combine their efforts to create an immersive installation that seamlessly pulls the audience between memory and dreams, using scavenged and collected materials from the man-made and natural worlds. Carefully conceived and executed original works play amongst these items curated from a life lived outside the boundaries.

Talismanic guides and animalian guards lead the way around children engaged in fireside rituals, through darkening woods, and into a mysterious fortress holding liminal visions of our first and final meditations.

The storybook-like tableau features these iconic autonomous zones of childhood as staging grounds for explorations of initiation, transitional states, and new ways of telling the oldest stories-- Reminding us that in each moment we are ever changing, ever evolving, and ever becoming.
